Broad Windsor fava beans are a robust, heirloom variety known for their large, flavorful seeds and sturdy growth. These bushy plants reach about 2-3 feet in height and thrive in cool weather, making them perfect for early spring or fall planting. The pods contain 5-6 large, creamy beans that are ideal for fresh eating, drying, or freezing. Broad Windsor favas are highly nutritious, rich in protein, fiber, and essential vitamins. The plants also improve soil health by fixing nitrogen. Easy to grow and harvest, these fava beans are a favorite among gardeners seeking a productive, versatile, and delicious crop.
I always get good seeds at a great price from MIgardener. Thank You
Planted these seeds a few weeks ago into my Greenstalk, and they are healthy & look beautiful! 100% germination rate
Seeds came in beginning of January got them in the ground right away after a soak and inoculation with rhizobia. Just starting on my second year of growing in zone 9b in heavy clay, so I was looking for a winter crop to get roots in the soil. Seeds germinated in approximately 2 weeks and are growing quickly. Not sure if I will use them as a true cover crop and drop them before bean production. Have not grown this variety before but have grown Robin Hood variety in the past and the beans were tender and delicious perfect for stir fry or salads. If you let the pod mature you have to shell the beans before eating. The outside is way too tough if not. Warm regards everyone!
Best prices period. Everyone is charging an outrageous amount for what is a big staple for us. We love your prices, and the seeds are as good or better than everyone else’s!
All seeds germinated. Soaked 1/2 of the seeds overnight, the other 1/2 just directly planted. So far, no issues surviving temps in the lower 20 F.
